Institute for Human Rights and development in Africa is a non-profit, non-governmental pan-African organisation headquartered in the Gambia.

The Institute is committed to contributing to the development of the African human rights system through its programme activities.

We are dedicated to making the human rights treaties of the Organisation of African Unity as effective as possible.

The Institute works to strengthen the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights with whom it has observer status.
